Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been experimenting with the production of audio books using Amazon’s ‘Virtual Voice’ system. As you may know, this uses ‘AI’ to narrate audio books.
I’ve converted three books – one novel and two non-fiction books – to get a feel for it. The three books are now live on Amazon and Audible. As far as I know, these are currently only available to listeners in the USA, but they’ll probably be released in other countries in the (near?) future.
I’ve included the links to the Amazon and Audible sites below, please have a listen to the samples. Even if you’re outside the USA, you should be able to access the audio samples on the Amazon.com website (the Audible links will just redirect you to your local Audible website).
Let me know what you think about audio books produced in this way – could you listen to a whole book read by a ‘Virtual Voice’? I spent quite a bit of time checking each one, fixing things like pauses and pronunciation, so they’re as close to a natural reading as I could make them.

Do you think I should do more of these? If so, which of my books would you like to see converted? Leave a comment below…
